CAP Reconciliation action plan
Our vision for reconciliation
The University's vision for reconciliation is to be a place of learning that respects Indigenous culture and diversity: a place where Indigenous and non-Indigenous people come together to engage with their chosen discipline, contextualised by an understanding of our shared history. The ANU College of Asia & the Pacific (CAP) supports the University by contributing to reconciliation by furthering scholarly learning, research and public knowledge of Indigenous issues.
Our mission
Our mission is to lead Australia's intellectual engagement with Asia and the Pacific through research, teaching and contribution to public debate. In so doing, we seek to set the international standard for scholarship about Asia and the Pacific by prioritising:
- Our expertise on our regional powers: China, Japan, India, Indonesia.
- Research on our close Pacific Island neighbours: Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Timor Leste and Vanuatu.
- Comparative regional work on Pacific Islands, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and South Asia, and selectively build core.
- expertise on the cultures, politics and economies of individual countries in each sub-region.
- The study of Australia's engagement with Asia and the Pacific, in all its forms, regional integration, and the broader global forces at work, shaping and being shaped by our region.
Our reconciliation action plan
The College's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) reflects the key elements of the University's Reconciliation Action Plan and builds on areas where we can add value to the services and opportunities we can share and provide to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, students and visitors.
