Professor Armida Alisjahbana was the Chair of the Department of Economics and Development Studies in the Faculty of Economics, Padjadjaran University, Bandung. She obtained a B.A. in Economics from the University of Indonesia, an M.A. in Economics from Northwestern University, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Washington. She has been involved in numerous research projects funded by, among others, UNDP, the World Bank and AusAID, both at home and overseas. She is the president of the Indonesian Regional Science Association.
