2018 FKP Roadshow on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The 2018 FKP Roadshow was conducted in three cities, hosted by Universitas Syiah Kuala in Banda Aceh (11 February), Universitas Jember in Jember (12 February), and Universitas Hasanuddin in Makassar (14 February). In total, more than 430 people attended the FKP Roadshow in the three cities, showing that there is significant interest in the SDGs from an academic point of view.

The first stop for the Roadshow was Universitas Syiah Kuala (UnSyiah) in Banda Aceh, with speakers Arief Anshory Yusuf (SDGs Center, Universitas Padjadjaran), Sarah Dong (ANU Indonesia Project) and Syarifah Liza Munira (Faculty of Economics, Universitas Indonesia – FEB UI) and Zulham (UnSyiah). About 150 people attended the event, and the Head of the Department of Economics opened the seminar. The FKP Roadshow is always very popular at UnSyiah, and this year is no exception as the it was standing room only, and some latecomers were even not able to get into the room as it was full.

On the night before the FKP, all the speakers were invited to dinner by the UnSyiah Rector which were also was also attended by the Vice Rector I and III. The Rector sought possibilities to strengthen collaborations between ANU Indonesia Project with UnSyiah. Also UnSyiah will also be hosting IRSA International Institute in 2019 and expects the Project’s participation.

The second day of the Roadshow was at Universitas Jember, where more than 200 people attended the seminar. Ahmad Komarulzaman took over from Arief Yusuf to represent the SDGs Center of Universitas Padjadjaran and Adhitya Wardhono (Universitas Jember) joined the panel. Vice Rector I, Dr. Zulfikar, opened the seminar and the Dean of FEB, Dr Muhammad Miqdad, attended the seminar.  Participants were mostly faculty members and students. Female participation is around 50%. Discussions were very active.  A lot of participants raised their hands during Q&A for the chance to pose questions or comments.

Students and lecturers spent Valentine’s Day discussing the SDGs at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Hasanuddin on 14 February. Sanusi Fattah represented Universitas Hasanuddin on the panel. About 80 people were in attendance, about 30% female, and most were students. Prior to the seminar, speakers met with Dean of FEB UnHas who explained that the Faculty will celebrate its 70th anniversary in Septeber 2018, and invited the Project to participate.
