The Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies (BIES) Economic Forum is a series of seminar aiming to encourage Indonesian academics to read and submit their works to the BIES.  This year, the Forums were conducted at Universitas Sriwijaya in Palembang, on 14 November 2018 and at Universitas Diponegoro in Semarang on 15 November 2018.  Approximately 80 people participated in Palembang’s BIES Forum.  Mostly participants were graduate students at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sriwijaya. Several faculty members from FEB were also present.  In this forum, Budy Resosudarmo from ANU Indonesia Project introduced the Bulletin and topics it has recently published. Budy also provided advice to audiences on how to write a good academic article. Lastly, Budy also reviewed recent developments in economic empirical research, and finally, using an article recently published in the Bulletin he describes why in his opinion the paper accepted.
