Indonesia Australia High Level Policy Dialogue

On 19-20 March 2013, ANU Indonesia Project together with AusAID, Australian Treasury and Indonesia’s Ministry of Finance held a High Level Policy Dialogue in Hotel Borobudur Jakarta. The HLPD was opened by Indonesia’s Minister of Finance, H. E. Agus Martowardojo. Bambang Brodjonegoro gave an overview of macroeconomic conditions in Indonesia and its challenges ahead. The principal theme of this HLPD is ‘inclusive growth’ and focused on six topics selected by the Ministry of Finance for discussion: social security, rising inequality, education priorities, food security, labour regulation and productivity, and revitalising manufacturing.

Among the speakers were Bambang Brodjonegoro, Robert Sparrow, Yves Guerard, Rema Hanna, Vivi Alatas, Budy Resosudarmo, Sua Hasil Nazara, Daniel Suryadarma, Khairil Anwar Notodiputro, Fasli Jalal, Kym Anderson, Edimon Ginting, Chris Manning, Peter van Rooij, Hal Hill, Dionisius Ardiyanto, and Haryo Aswicahyono. Australian and Indonesian government officials, policy makers and representatives from the World Bank, ILO, ADB, ERIA, and selected academics attended this Dialogue. At the end of the Dialogue, a Communiqué was presented to Indonesia’s Finance Minister. Presentation papers from speakers are available here:
