The Highlights on the Indonesia Project calendar for the period January–June 2009 have been the third annual Sadli Lecture on the topic ‘‘Prospects for Skills-based Export Growth in a Labour-abundant, Resource-rich Developing Economy: Issues for Indonesia”, the publication of a book on Eastern Indonesia, Working With Nature Against Poverty: Development, Resources and the Environment in Eastern Indonesia, edited by Budy P. Our regular Core Activities include the Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies and the well-attended Indonesia Study Group seminars. The April 2009 issue of the Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies is now available online. For a summary of the contents, please click on the link What’s New in the Latest Issue of BIES? to find the article posted by Ross McLeod, and to read about its impact, see Strong Citations Performance by BIES.

Indonesia Study Group meetings in the first half of 2009 focused on the upcoming Indonesian elections, the economy and the political economy, culture (Chinese Indonesia film makers, historic cultural missions, Islamic movies), history, human rights and corruption. Several are available to a wider audience through the audio pod cast recordings saved on the Project web-site. For a full listing of ISG presentations, most of them with abstracts, please see the ISG webpage.

Staff of the Project continued to be involved in a variety of Research and Outreach Activities over the period January to June 2009.
