Linking Historical Reconciliation and Security Cooperation in Northeast Asia

ANU workshop

The Australian National University hosted an international workshop in August 2006 on the topic “Reconciliation between China and Japan: A Search for Solutions.” Twenty scholars from Japan, the PRC, Taiwan, Canada, the Netherlands, the United States, and Australia participated. Prior to attending the workshop, all participants were asked to write a short paper responding to the question: “In your opinion, what are the three most promising things that can be done to advance reconciliation between Japan and China, and why?” Copies of those papers, a rapporteur’s report, short bios of the participants, and several longer papers are available here. In addition, we published a special issue of the journal Asian Perspective (31:1, 2007) comprised of papers from the workshop
