Thomas Allom, The Great Wall of China

This workshop will feature presentations in the field of Chinese studies from the perspectives of scholars trained in South Korea and Australia. By drawing on two different traditions of Sinology, this workshop will address the need for a holistic approach to the study of China and consider the means of achieving this end. Presentations in the workshop will address topics in the study of language, literature, history, politics, and intellectual thought.

The workshop is a collaborative initiative between Korea University’s Department of Chinese and Japanese Language and Literature, through the Korean government’s ‘Brain Korea 21 Plus’ program, and the Australian Centre on China in the World at ANU.

Brian Martin — History, ANU
Paik Yeongkil — Religion, Korea University
Wei Shuge — History, ANU
Zang Dongchion — Literature, Korea University
