Thai is the national and official language of Thailand and spoken by about 60 million people. The study of Thai is essential for anyone wishing to understand Thailand's culture, society and long history. As Australia's future is increasingly tied to the nations of Asia, the importance of Thai will continue to grow. Knowledge of the language is a skill valued in a wide range of professions, both in Australia and internationally.

Savour a “taste” of Thai in this hour-long class and find out how it can enrich your degree at ANU!

Chintana Sandilands, or Ajahn (teacher) Chintana, has taught Thai at ANU for almost 30 years. In addition to Thai language and culture, she specialises in other aspects of Thai studies, particularly contemporary political, economic and social issues. She teaches basic, intermediate and advanced Thai-language courses and holds a BA and MA (Thammasat) and Grad. Dip. (ANU).
