52 Hz I Love You

Special Film Screening

HC Coombs Lecture Theatre, HC Coombs Building (8a), Fellows Road, ANU

Monday, 26 March, 2018 - 19:30 to 21:30

2016, 109 minutes, Taiwan
Directed by Wei Te-sheng 魏德聖
Rated G, Mandarin with English subtitles

Having directed Taiwan’s two highest-grossing domestic films, Cape No. 7 海角七號 (2007) and Seediq Bale 賽德克·巴萊(2011), Wei-Te Sheng’s latest is a musical set in a bright and vibrant Taipei. The ensemble cast—many of whom are popular singers—charmingly capture the complexities of love, in the process showing an energetic and creative vision of contemporary Taiwanese society. Wei’s Taipei is full of romantic possibilities stemming from chance encounters, with catchy songs and gentle humour throughout. Australian cinephiles will not want to miss this rare opportunity to watch a feature film musical from Asia.

Registration essential. Limited FREE tickets available.

This film screening is brought to you by the Australian Centre on China in the World and the ANU Film Group.
