Introduction to land cover mapping with Landsat (half-day workshop) (GIS203)

Have you ever wanted to be able to map vegetation, buildings or land cover in your study site?

In this hands-on workshop you will use ArcGIS to create a land cover map from freely available remotely-sensed imagery. You will learn techniques for identifying land cover types from aerial imagery and use this information to classify Landsat imagery into different land cover types. You will also be introduced to a number of tips you can use to refine your outputs.

This course is available only to CAP academic and professional staff and HDR students. 

When: 1pm – 5pm, 26 September

Where: Menzies Library Flex Lab (Level 3, Building 2)

Registrations via HORUS/ISIS. The course is FREE for CAP staff and HDR Students. However, a no-show fee of $50 applies without 24 hours notice (emergencies excepted). You will need a charge code to register. HDR Students can contact their HDR Administrator for a code. 

Some GIS experience required. Email sandra.potter@anu.edu.au if you don’t have experience with ArcGIS but are still interested in participating in this course.
