Do political tensions impact trade flows between countries? Or do increased trade flows lead to a reduction of political conflict? Despite the large theoretical and empirical literature on the causal relationship between bilateral trade interdependence and political relations, little consensus has emerged. In this thesis proposal review seminar, the speaker will outline the nature of this problem and why it is important.
