This paper investigates the long-term impact of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami on educational and health outcomes in Banda Aceh city, Indonesia. We employ a spatial regression discontinuity design mainly using our own household survey data. Results reveal that respondents inhibiting in the heavily devastated area tend to have fewer years of schooling, are less likely to continue to higher education, and are on average shorter.
