Some New Mandala readers in the United Kingdom may not know that the 2006 Association of South-East Asian Studies (UK) conference will be held at St. Antony’s College, Oxford, next weekend. For anybody with a few spare days and some spare sterling, the program does look interesting.
I will be there and it will be great to meet other students and scholars in the UK working on mainland Southeast Asia. I am looking forward to it immensely. If you see me around, feel free to come up and say G’day.

Please note: New Mandala encourages vigorous debate. However, for the moment we will only be publishing high-quality comments that make original contributions to discussion. There will, of course, still be space for pithy, humorous, eccentric and cheeky input. Short and sweet will usually trump long and involved. Repetitive ranting, unimaginative point-scoring and idle abuse will not be entertained. Comments which carry a real name are also more likely to be approved. Thank you for your ongoing interest and contributions.
