Human rights under a “brutal military regime”

October 26th, 2006 by Nicholas Farrelly · Add a Comment

The Irrawaddy has a useful report by Clive Parker that covers the arguments of the UK Conservative Party MPs who have been recently agitating against the Burmese junta. This Irrawaddy coverage paints an interesting picture, particularly when read in light of yesterday’s and earlier New Mandala posts on the topic of Western government “engagements” with the military regime.

Please note: New Mandala encourages vigorous debate. However, for the moment we will only be publishing high-quality comments that make original contributions to discussion. There will, of course, still be space for pithy, humorous, eccentric and cheeky input. Short and sweet will usually trump long and involved. Repetitive ranting, unimaginative point-scoring and idle abuse will not be entertained. Comments which carry a real name are also more likely to be approved. Thank you for your ongoing interest and contributions.
