Indo-Burma borderlands and anti-insurgent cooperation

November 8th, 2006 by Nicholas Farrelly · Add a Comment

Just in case anybody out there was under the mistaken impression that all is calm on the Burmese front, Smita Mishra Brahma’s discussion of Burmese and Indian army cooperation to eradicate insurgents is worth mentioning in passing.  Published in this month’s The Irrawaddy, it is a complex report on what is - no doubt about it - a complex set of trans-border issues.  If you are looking to get up-to-date on the geo-political barn dance involving the Burmese military, this article is a very informative read.

Please note: New Mandala encourages vigorous debate. However, for the moment we will only be publishing high-quality comments that make original contributions to discussion. There will, of course, still be space for pithy, humorous, eccentric and cheeky input. Short and sweet will usually trump long and involved. Repetitive ranting, unimaginative point-scoring and idle abuse will not be entertained. Comments which carry a real name are also more likely to be approved. Thank you for your ongoing interest and contributions.
