Burma debate in Aussie parliament

February 19th, 2007 by Nicholas Farrelly · 1 Comment

Last week, the Australian House of Representatives debated a motion expressing concern about the political situation in Burma.  The transcript of the debate is available and - for anybody keen to see how it took shape – pages 44-49 of Hansard on Monday 12 February 2007 are essential reading.

A big thanks to Cheri, from the ever-informative and useful Burma Gateway, for providing this excellent reference.

Please note: New Mandala encourages vigorous debate. However, for the moment we will only be publishing high-quality comments that make original contributions to discussion. There will, of course, still be space for pithy, humorous, eccentric and cheeky input. Short and sweet will usually trump long and involved. Repetitive ranting, unimaginative point-scoring and idle abuse will not be entertained. Comments which carry a real name are also more likely to be approved. Thank you for your ongoing interest and contributions.
