Over the past year, Burma Gateway has grown into a tremendous resource for anybody (and particularly Australians) interested in Burma. It carries a steady stream of important announcements, articles and information.
Recently, the owners of Burma Gateway have started to post commentaries on Burma’s National Convention written by federal Labor Party political aspirant and human rights activist Janelle Saffin. At this time of great uncertainty and sorrow, these pieces may help to inspire a fuller examination of the future of government in Burma. A previous reflection on the situation in Burma by Janelle Saffin can also be found online.
When more of her commentaries are posted on Burma Gateway I will be sure to bring them to New Mandala readers’ attention.

Please note: New Mandala encourages vigorous debate. However, for the moment we will only be publishing high-quality comments that make original contributions to discussion. There will, of course, still be space for pithy, humorous, eccentric and cheeky input. Short and sweet will usually trump long and involved. Repetitive ranting, unimaginative point-scoring and idle abuse will not be entertained. Comments which carry a real name are also more likely to be approved. Thank you for your ongoing interest and contributions.
