December 19th, 2007 by Andrew Walker and Nicholas Farrelly · 2 Comments

On 23 December 2007 Thailand will hold its first general elections since the coup of September 2006 removed the Thaksin Shinawatra government.  These nationwide elections are of considerable interest to the many people around the world who closely monitor developments in Thailand.

The outcome is still far from certain.

To provide anecdote, analysis and new perspectives on the elections, New Mandala will be offering special live updates as vote counting proceeds throughout the night of Sunday, 23 December 2007 (from 6 pm Australian Daylight Saving Time).  This coverage will be supported by analysts and reporters based in Thailand.

Stay tuned for more information.  If you have any questions, suggestions or contributions please don’t hesitate to get in contact.

Please note: New Mandala encourages vigorous debate. However, for the moment we will only be publishing high-quality comments that make original contributions to discussion. There will, of course, still be space for pithy, humorous, eccentric and cheeky input. Short and sweet will usually trump long and involved. Repetitive ranting, unimaginative point-scoring and idle abuse will not be entertained. Comments which carry a real name are also more likely to be approved. Thank you for your ongoing interest and contributions.
