Resettlement for Irrawaddy reporter

March 31st, 2008 by Nicholas Farrelly · Add a Comment

Shah Paung, a Karen journalist who has worked at The Irrawaddy for five years, has a wonderful piece on her decision to accept an offer of refugee resettlement in Australia.  As she writes:

Accepting resettlement was the most difficult decision of my life. However, I know I must not let it interfere with my goal—to continue as a journalist and to face the challenges of the future whatever they may be.

Good luck to Shah Paung.

Please note: New Mandala encourages vigorous debate. However, for the moment we will only be publishing high-quality comments that make original contributions to discussion. There will, of course, still be space for pithy, humorous, eccentric and cheeky input. Short and sweet will usually trump long and involved. Repetitive ranting, unimaginative point-scoring and idle abuse will not be entertained. Comments which carry a real name are also more likely to be approved. Thank you for your ongoing interest and contributions.
