This voluminous (596 pages), well researched and well referenced text is a comprehensive contemporary study of the three southern provinces of Songkla, Narathiwat and Hat Yai. The text includes discussions of national security policy concerning the south; review of research and literature on the south; the culture of public administration; religious relations; and the ‘War on Terror’. Hat-Yai is not a province. It’s the biggest city in Songkhla Province, with its own district The provincial seat of Songkhla is about 26 kms away. This is a frequent mistake
