Panrit Daoruang’s Thai prison life

July 8th, 2008 by Nicholas Farrelly · Add a Comment

It was way back in 1999 that I first visited Panrit Daoruang’s website.  Back then he was known by the firstname Nattawud.  In the following years he went on to become a famous Internet and media personality.  During his years of fame his life took an abrupt turn and he ended up in Samut Prakan Central Prison.  If you haven’t seen it, his current site, Thai Prison Life, deserves your attention.  Panrit still has some time to go on his sentence but, from his site, it does look like he is doing well under the circumstances.  And kudos to his long-time mentor, the prolific Richard Barrow, for keeping his online presence alive.

It is, I’m sure you will agree, an amazing story.

Please note: New Mandala encourages vigorous debate. However, for the moment we will only be publishing high-quality comments that make original contributions to discussion. There will, of course, still be space for pithy, humorous, eccentric and cheeky input. Short and sweet will usually trump long and involved. Repetitive ranting, unimaginative point-scoring and idle abuse will not be entertained. Comments which carry a real name are also more likely to be approved. Thank you for your ongoing interest and contributions.
