ADBI: Overview of Contract Farming in Thailand

July 21st, 2008 by Nicholas Farrelly · Add a Comment

The Asian Development Bank Institute has just put out a new report on contract farming in Thailand.  This is an issue that has, in the past, been discussed at some length on New Mandala.  Previous coverage is available here and here.  Readers who follow debates about the merits of various rural development strategies in mainland Southeast Asia will find much food for thought in the ADBI piece.

Please note: New Mandala encourages vigorous debate. However, for the moment we will only be publishing high-quality comments that make original contributions to discussion. There will, of course, still be space for pithy, humorous, eccentric and cheeky input. Short and sweet will usually trump long and involved. Repetitive ranting, unimaginative point-scoring and idle abuse will not be entertained. Comments which carry a real name are also more likely to be approved. Thank you for your ongoing interest and contributions.
