I have received this update on Harry Nicolaides:
Harry’s 84 day remand period expired yesterday but unfortunately he was taken to the Bangkok Criminal Court yesterday morning and the prosecutor served its criminal complaint against him for the charge of Lese Majeste. He will now remain detained in prison until a trial, the date of which is presently unknown but will fall into next year. Harry pleaded not guilty at today’s appearance and has vehemently claimed he never intended to cause any insult or harm to the Thai Royal family with his choice of words written almost 3 years ago.
Today The Age carried a feature article on Harry’s plight.

If u have an 0n-line petition letter or something like this to plead for urgent Australian Gov’s help for Nicolaides, I , as a Thai, will help sign this petition immediately. The Aus gov will then know that not all Thais agree with this weird law, and many, Thais and Australians alike, feel that he really deserves the help from the Aus gov as soon as possible. Everyone knows how horrible it is to be put in jail in Thailand. Maybe some Australian journalist or Nicolaides’s relative should initiate such a plea. This is really urgent.

Please note: New Mandala encourages vigorous debate. However, for the moment we will only be publishing high-quality comments that make original contributions to discussion. There will, of course, still be space for pithy, humorous, eccentric and cheeky input. Short and sweet will usually trump long and involved. Repetitive ranting, unimaginative point-scoring and idle abuse will not be entertained. Comments which carry a real name are also more likely to be approved. Thank you for your ongoing interest and contributions.
