An announcement that arrived in my inbox yesterday may be of interest to New Mandala readers in Bangkok. A translation is:
Invitation to lecturers and academics from every institution who disagree with the abolition of the lese majeste law to join a discussion meeting and press conference.
Friday 13 March 2009
10:30 am discussion meeting, 1:30 pm press conference
At the 9th floor meeting room, Malai Huwanan Building
National Institute of Development Administration
If any readers do attend this event we would, of course, be delighted to host a short report. Please get in contact if you would like to write one.

Much easier to have a mass arrest!

oh… disagree with the abolition of the Lese Majeste law. Ahh. Yes I thought it was a bit strange.

disagree with the abolition!
Don’t you think that is too obvious.
Anyway please prepare to have large crowd of audience.

I note that our Comrade Censors haven’t blocked this page for promoting a Lese Majeste event or coverage. I can’t imagine why…

Ahh here we go, Mar 11, page is blocked. Guess there is still some pretence of impartiality in their censorship.

Sorry Flashman,
I don’t quite follow. Where is the page blocked? It would be good to have some more details.
Best wishes,
NSF

This page is blocked in Thailand.
All pages with LM content on New Mandala, Bangkok Pundit, Asia Sentinel, Political Prisoners in Thailand et al come up with the same “404 error: File not found” format page after about 24hrs.
Proxy servers come in very useful these days…

Thanks Flashman,
It would be wonderful if we could pin this matter down once and for all. I have asked for other readers to offer their experiences and, with some information sharing, hopefully we can all learn something.
O, and just a reminder that if any NM readers do attend this event we would be delighted to publish a report.
Thanks!

I am in Thailand, and I have no problem downloading this document.

Please note: New Mandala encourages vigorous debate. However, for the moment we will only be publishing high-quality comments that make original contributions to discussion. There will, of course, still be space for pithy, humorous, eccentric and cheeky input. Short and sweet will usually trump long and involved. Repetitive ranting, unimaginative point-scoring and idle abuse will not be entertained. Comments which carry a real name are also more likely to be approved. Thank you for your ongoing interest and contributions.
