Video: wrap up of Indonesia presidential election

In this video, New Mandala’s Dr Ross Tapsell talks to professors Edward Aspinall and Ariel Heryanto from the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific about the Indonesian presidential election.

The three discuss what Joko Widodo’s win means for the country and its democracy, what the election meant to them as long-term observers of Indonesian politics and society and how the election was perceived outside of Indonesia.

They also discuss the role of academics in reporting on and covering the election.
