The Rev. T. Watt Leggatt served as a Presbyterian missionary on Malekula, New Hebrides (Vanuatu), for about 25 years from 1887. See Patrick O'Reilly's 'Bibliographie des Nouvelles Hebrides' (Paris, 1958) for details of his published writings.

The narrative is an account of one of the first crossing by Europeans of the rugged 12,000 ft Star Mountains Range, in what was then the Australian Trust Territory of New Guinea. The Star Mountains are a mountain range in western Papua New Guinea and the eastern end of Highland Papua, Indonesia. The crossing of the mountains was accomplished by a party of six men, including Thomas Hayllar, who set out from Telefomin on February 25, 1965. The men climbed two of the highest peaks in the ranges, Mt Capella and Mt Scorpion, and visited a sheet of water called Lake Vivien.

Diaries spanning Reverend John R. Metcalfe's entire career as a Methodist missionary and are of particular historical interest for his 37 years in Solomon Islands from 1920-1957. Metcalfe was appointed to Solomon Islands in 1920. After a brief period at Roviana, he was appointed to Choiseul (Lauru island) as assistant to the Rev. V. LeC. Binet. Apart from four years at Teop, he remained on Choiseul (with a break during the war) until 1951. He was then appointed chairman of the Methodist Mission in the Solomons.

A catalogue of the ethnographic items collected by the United States Exploring Expedition to the Pacific (1838-42) led by Commodore Charles Wilkes. The Expedition visited the Tuamotu Islands, Tahiti (in French Polynesia), Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Lord Howe Island, Australia, New Zealand/Aotearoa, Gilbert Islands (Kiribati), Marshall Islands, and Hawaii. The catalogue was prepared in 1846 by Titian Ramsay Peale, an artist-naturalist with the Expedition. A typescript version, prepared by the PMB, follows the original document on the microfilm. Townsend and Moore were members of the US Fisheries Commission aboard the U.S. Fisheries Commission Steamer Albatross which made a cruise to the South Pacific in 1899 - 1900 under Commander Jefferson F. Moser, USN.

Autumn Leaves, renamed Vision from Vol.42, is a publication of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Brother Fred Henry, a teacher at Leone Boys School, Tutuila, American Samoa, spent 25 years in Samoa.

This history, a typescript of 127 pages, was apparently intended for the use of schools in Samoa. A statement on page 127 reads: '... as this outline presents the first trial ever made to collect the known historical events and to put them together in a chronological order, I am well aware that it contains errors and perhaps many of them. But if so, such misstatements are the consequence of erroneous information I received. No misstatement has been made wilfully ...'.

The Manuscript Mission Histories are, in fact, mainly collections of chronologically arranged newspaper clippings, with some typescript entries, concerning the work of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Pacific Islands. The histories cover the following territories and periods: French Polynesia (1849-1959), Hawaii (1850-1959), Samoa (1871-1959), Tonga (1891-1959).
