This series was published fortnightly by the German Administration in Rabaul. Local people were trained as printers and in other areas of the printing industry and the paper was produced using these local tradesmen.

These photocopies of the originals have been bound into 11 volumes, including two supplements to the 1913 issues (Vol.IV): one on the establishment of the botanic gardens at Rabaul by Dr Gerhrmann and the other on types of shell and molluscs by M. Braun. An index appears at the beginning of each volume. The page numbers are sequential from issue number one to the end of the last issue for each year.

The work was originally issued in parts. Includes accounts of visit to Tahiti, Caroline and Mariana Islands and plates showing canoes and small vessels constructed there. The <i>Melanesian Nius</i> and the <i>Kiokio Nius</i> were sister newspapers published irregularly in Honiara by the pioneer Solomon Islander journalist and newspaper proprietor, George Aitkin, prior to publication of his major weekly, the <i>Solomons Toktok</i>.

Cecil Gribble (born 1903) was a Methodist missionary and Director of Education in Tonga, 1943-46. He was General Secretary of the Methodist Overseas Mission from 1949 until his retirement in 1970. Rev. Gribble donated this collection of pamphlets to the Pacific Theological College Library.

Collection of 17 rare pamphlets by various authors relating to the work of the Methodist Church in Fiji. 13 of the pamphlets were published between 1900 and 1909, with many of these relating to the controversial issue of lay representation in the Fiji District Synod of the Wesleyan Methodist Conference of Australasia.<BR><P>A detailed inventory of the pamphlets, together with summary notes prepared by John Garrett is available.

This is a duplicated news sheet, the early issues being of poor reproductive quality. This circular was put out by the Reverend Norman Cocks, Australian agent of the L.M.S., from the L.M.S. office at 250 Pitt Street, Sydney. There is a considerable amount of material relating to missionary work in Papua New Guinea.
