Biographical statement

Dr. Thai Duy Bao [BA (Hue Univ), MS (Eastern Univ., PA, USA) and PhD (VNU)] is a lecturer in the Southeast Asia Centre. He specializes in Applied Linguistics and Economic Development. He is the convener of the Vietnamese courses, including Vietnamese 1A-B, Vietnamese 2A-B, and Vietnamese 3 A-B. He is also coordinator of the course 'Windows onto Contemporary Vietnamese Society'.

Research interests

His research interests are mainly in second-language acquisition, contrastive linguistics, cross-cultural negotiation, and issues of economic development. He is currently researching the study design for Vietnamese as LOTE, Vietnamese Proficiency Rating Scale, language education policy to overseas Vietnamese, and pragma-linguistic aspects of business communications.
