Travel & leave

  • Annual Leave
    Students can take up to 4 weeks a year of annual leave each year. This is agreed between the student and their supervisor. A record is kept on the student's file but cannot be seen on ISIS.
    Students should complete the Notification of Annual Leave form.
  • Fieldwork & Conference Travel
    • This is usually organised and funded at the 'local area' level.
    • To apply for this leave/travel, students should use the official ANU travel form.They should indicate under 'Position' that they are PhD or MPhil students.
    • Administrators should ensure that students provide their travel contact details under 'Destination/Brief Description' and that the leave has been approved by the appropriate Supervisor and Budget Holder.
    • The application process may vary from School to School so check with your local administrator.
  • Program Leave (with or without Scholarship)
    This is taken when a student is unable to pursue their program for personal or professional reasons. International students must check their visa conditions and consult the Office of Policy & Regulation before applying.
    Students should complete the Application for Leave of Absence from Research Program form.
  • Only the central ANU Enrolments and Scholarships offices can process program or scholarship leave and record it on ESP.
