Teaching Awards

CAP Teaching Award Winners for 2009

The CAP Teaching Award Winners have just been announced for 2009. Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all applicants.

  • Award for Teaching Excellence

    Dr Janine O'Flynn – Crawford School of Economics and Government
  • Award for Excellence in Supervision

    Dr Sue O'Connor – Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies
  • Award for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning

    Dr Chunlai Chen – Crawford School of Economics and Government
  • Award for a Program that Enhances Student Learning

    Graduate Studies in International Affairs – Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies
  • Award for Excellence in Language Teaching

    Mrs Yan-Yan Wang – Faculty of Asian Studies
  • Award for Excellence in Tutoring

    Ms Jun Imaki – Faculty of Asian Studies

ANU College of Asia and the Pacific Teaching Awards

Awards and Prizes

The ANU CAP Teaching Awards were initiated in 2007 to recognise and encourage excellence in both coursework teaching and research supervision within the College of Asia and the Pacific. In 2009 there are six awards being offered by the College:

There is $1000 in prize money associated with each award.

Award Process

Nominations- Staff are nominated by students, colleagues or by self-nomination. Nominations open in August and close 10th September 2009.

Applications- Nominated staff are then invited to prepare a portfolio and apply for the award(s) they were nominated for. A workshop will be held to assist nominees with their portfolios in September (see important dates closer to the time). Applications close on the 2nd October.

Deliberation- A CAP Committee will meet to consider the Applicants for each award and to determine the Awardees.

Notification- Applicants will be notified of the Awards outcome.

Nominations are now being accepted for the CAP Teaching Awards and staff and students are invited to nominate a staff member. Please click the following link to complete the online nomination form. Nominations will close on the 3rd September 2009.

ANU Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Excellence in Education

Please note that the CAP Teaching Awards are separate from the ANU Vice-Chancellor’s Teaching Awards, though the award categories are similar. If you would like to nominate a staff member for both sets of awards, you will need to fill out two separate nomination forms. For details on the ANU VC Teaching Awards please see the CEDAM website

Australian Awards for University Teaching

The Australian Awards for University Teaching are administered by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC). Recipients and nominees of the ANU Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in Education will be eligible to be nominated by the University for these National Awards.
