Celebrity Diplomat: Henry Kissinger, Realism, and the Domestic Politics of American Foreign Policy

Light lunch provided Henry Kissinger was arguably the most famous and controversial American diplomat of the 20th century. His ideas about American foreign policy, and his approach to international politics, remain influential. This paper examines Kissinger's biography, as well as his behavior in office, his conception of foreign policy "realism," and the influence of domestic politics on his ideas.

Rev Dr. Bill Miscamble completed bachelors and masters degrees at the University of Queensland before taking up doctoral studies at the University of Notre Dame, which awarded him his PhD in 1980. After serving for a period as the North American analyst at the Office of National Assessments, Bill returned to Notre Dame and entered the priestly formation program of the Congregation of Holy Cross; he was ordained a priest in 1988.
