Dr Derek Herforth, Sydney

Basham Room, Baldessin Precinct Building (110), Ellery Crescent, ANU

Wednesday, 26 June, 2013 - 10:00 to 11:30

This seminar presents a new understanding of information-question constructions  in Old Chinese. By presenting a re-interpretation of certain early passages, I will be show  how this will be of use in teaching the grammar of Old Chinese more systematically.

Derek Herforth is a specialist in Classical Chinese recently retired from the Department of Chinese Studies, University of Sydney where he taught Mandarin, classical Chinese language, and pre-modern Chinese texts. He is co-editing a volume on classical Chinese teaching materials (“a constructional approach”) and developing a website devoted to problems in the interpretation and teaching of Old Chinese.

All are welcome.
