Access and login

Why am I unable to log in to the MapsOnline website when I am working off-campus?

The current server setup for all college sites disallows access to the following URL's from off-campus locations.

  • /user
  • /user/register
  • /user/reset

However, access can be achieved by using the Virtual Private Network (VPN)—anubasic.

Instructions on how to install and use the VPN service can be found below.

Why can't I open the svg files in Illustrator CS5?

The svg files have been created in either Adobe Illustrator CS6 or Adobe Illustrator CC. Attempting to open these files in an earlier version of Adobe Illustrator results in an error message -

'The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error'.

This problem can be resolved in one of two ways.

• update to either Adobe Illustrator CS6 or Adobe Illustrator CC

or

• download the free open-source application Inkscape.

My ANU logon won't work.

Access to Maps Online for all ANU staff and students is via an ANU U-number and HORUS password.

Please check you are using the correct password.

If access is still unavailable contact CAP IT Service Desk - x54321 option 2 then 3.

Why am I not allowed to access some things in the repository?

Maps Online provides raster (png) files for all users to download and vector (svg) files to all Australian National University (ANU) staff and students.

Access to a vector file is only possible after creating a user account and logging in with an ANU U-number and HORUS password.
