Mish's story: Studying Burmese at ANU

As a first-year student, Mish Khan was at a crossroads choosing a language to complement her Bachelor of Asian Studies. Fascinated by Myanmar's political transition and eager to develop a competitive edge, she decided to minor in Burmese at ANU, the only Australian university to teach the language.

SBS 2018 National Languages Competition Awards Ceremony

The ANU College of Asia and the Pacific was proud to partner with SBS Australia for the 2018 National Languages Competition, which held its awards ceremony yesterday in Sydney. An impressive 4,000 entries were submitted across 40 languages, with five winners in various age groups. 
Acting Dean Dr Nicholas Farrelly served on this year's judging panel. He spoke about the unlimited possibilities learning a language provides students and announced the College's $11.6m investment in Asian and Pacific languages.

ANU signs historic agreement with PwC Australia

The Australian National University and PwC Australia recently signed a historic agreement to foster greater collaboration between the two institutions.

Dean of ANU College of Asia & the Pacific Michael Wesley spoke about the contributions ANU experts can make by providing Australian business with specialised knowledge about the Asia-Pacific region.

“Business tend to be very risk-adverse and quite unknowledgeable about the region. ANU can provide that knowledge and provide greater levels of capability in dealing across cultures”, he said.
