The big picture from a small island

Forty-four artworks, including photographs, watercolour prints, pencil and charcoal sketches, feature in a new exhibition at the ANU Australian Centre on China (CIW) in the World. Titled, Between: Picturing 1950-1960s Taiwan, the exhibition depicts life on the East Asian island after 1949.

In this video the exhibition’s curator, Dr Olivier Krischer, also a CIW postdoctoral fellow, along with Dr Yui-tan Chang, Director, National Museum of History, Taipei, discuss key factors that influenced Taiwanese artists, following the Republic of China government fleeing to Taiwan in 1949.
