Captain Alexander Macy was born and buried in Nantucket, Massachusetts, USA. He first went to sea at sixteen years old and after a career of 27 years on different vessels in the Pacific and Atlantic Ocreans, became president of the Nantucket Savings bank until 1861.

Buffett was a Norfolk Islander employed on whaling voyages in the New Bedford bark CANTON from 1881 to 1885 and in the bark PETREL in 1887. Buffett signed on the CANTON at Norfolk Island and visited many islands in the Pacific.

Born 24 January 1864, in Cheshire, England. Bardlsey was a carpenter in Brisbane, Queensland, and a lay preacher for the Methodist Mission in Papua New Guinea, 1891-92. Built the first houses at the Methodist Mission at Dobu island, D'Entrecasteaux Islands, where he was based for his time with the mission. Died in Brisbane, 1929.
