"The Baiyer gorge (note river) - a deep ravine here cutting the side of the Tropanda mountain. The Baiyer valley is in the distance. The river winds on through its undulating "flats" to the foot of Rugli. Boys who came with us on our walk hold translucent rhododendrons which grow down the steep sides of the gorge. (We did not go down - being unwilling to risk our necks.)"
