Douglass (1868-1896) was a missionary to New Zealand for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He died at Smithfield, Utah.

The journal covers Douglass' career in New Zealand during 1891 - 1894.

The articles mainly concern Hawaii, the Society Islands in French Polynesia, New Zealand/Aotearoa, Samoa, Tonga, Pitcairn Island and Fiji. The Juvenile Instructor was published by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake City.
