Note

" in the good old days when men were men. These ‘Wild men of Liku’ with 2 women, 26 in all, dramatized the coming of Captain Cook. He called it Savage Island, and these people agree with him, and said so. They gave the visitors a message. ‘Please tell the people of New Zealand that it is no longer Savage Island, but an island of peace and love.’ The whole party came forward to the stand and while kneeling sang a hymn of their own in which they told of their coming out of Egyptian Darkness. They then described the building of the Hall in action and song. The Presentation Palm seedling can be seen in front of the stand.” [Information from interleafing in album]
