Biographical history
Reverend Frederick James Paton (1867-1941) was son of the Presbyterian missionary the Rev. Dr John G. Paton and born at Aniwa, New Hebrides (Vanuatu). After being educated in Australia and serving there for a short time as a Presbyterian minister, the Rev. F.J. Paton returned to the New Hebrides and spent most of the rest of his life there as a missionary.

Frederick James Paton correspondence to Wilfred (W.F.) and Maisie (M.I.) Paton, mostly resident on Ambrym One letter to ‘My dear Wif’ [Wilfred] is dated 2 Feb 1922, the rest run from May 1937 to 19 Jul 1941. There is also a letter (from Wilfred?) addressed to ‘Dear Uncle Fred’ and dated 3 Apr 1939
