We use PhotoShelter to manage our image repository.

Our collections are broken-down by domain and the structure can be modified by contacting the CAP Web Team

Please make sure you upload and tag images as shown in the PhotoShelter guide.

Free-use license generally allows all photos and videos to be downloaded and used for free.

CAP follows best practice when publishing content which is to include image attribution/credits wherever possible. Please do your best to fill out the ITPC metadata when loading these images into PhotoShelter.

Allowed:

  • All content (e.g. images, videos, music) can be used for free for commercial and noncommercial use across print and digital
  • Attribution is not required. Giving credit to the artist or site is not necessary but is always appreciated by our community.
  • Photos can be modified

Not allowed:

  • Identifiable people may not appear in a bad light or in a way that is offensive.
  • Don't sell unaltered copies of a photo or video, e.g. as a poster, print or on a physical product without modifying it first.
  • Don't imply endorsement of your product by people or brands on the imagery.
  • Don't redistribute or sell the photos and videos on other stock photo or wallpaper platforms.

O-Dan.net is an indexing site which allows you to search across many free-use image sites from the one page. This includes Pixabay and Unsplash from the above.

Enter your search term and browse images from different sites using the left hand side menu to switch.

Please double-check the licensing and attribution requirements from each site before using the image.

The ANU Flickr image library is available for free use across any ANU website or platform. No crediting or attribution is required.

Most of the relevant galleries in the library have already been migrated to PhotoShelter and Synced with our website.

Please search the file name from media section before adding images to PhotoShelter.

Licensed & Subscription Images

Licensed images should follow the crediting and licensing restrictions presented in each site's agreement.

The metadata should include relevant deadlines, links and details required in the maintenance of the license. Check the PhotoShelter guide for instructions on how to upload images and update metadata.

A copy of the license should be uploaded to ERMS via the Web Image Licenses folder
