This paper discusses the study of smallholder research and monitoring, and it is designed to collect reliable data on factors that affect and influence coffee production and to disentangle the individual factors and quantify their impact. This paper contains material on methodological considerations, data analysis and preliminary monitoring results of this study. It can be useful in areas related to rural development in Papua New Guinea.The study lasted until the end of 1993.
