Note
NB this photograph has some of the interleafing attached to it obscuring part of the image. “The Fale Fafine (Women’s House) at Malua. _[interleafing torn here and the rest of the description for this image is cut off at one side of the interleafing]___.” Other information in the description that can be made out includes that part of the building is of concrete construction (the base/foundations?), that the men and women working on it were Ellice Islanders and that “Samoans are sharing in the work”. The building is for the use of the women but it “will also be available for general use”. “The Samoan women raised the funds, between £5,000 and £6,000.”
