Note

Text on reverse:
Dear Addie,
Here you see a small house sheltering a wooden horse. The occasion is the preparation of a young man about to be married. This horse is only a small part of the decorations. There were three very tall poles all heavily decorated and festooned, then just at the rear a small house, somewhat larger than the one shown, & then this one.
The young man accompanied by a couple of friends remains in hiding for a couple of weeks while the girl is being bought the feasts etc. are being carried out. It is not practised generally but now and again you come across it. I have not been able to ascertain what are the qualifications for such ceremony. I had better send you birthday greetings as well as Xmas & new year.
With love from Lida, Raluana 3/2/20.
