Scope and content
The Societe des Missionnaires du Sacre-Coeur was founded at Issoudun, France, on 8 December 1854, by Fr Jules Chevalier. Headquarters of the mission have been in Rome since 1905.
The documents are inventoried on pp.361-2 of the Journal de la Societe des Oceanistes, vol.25, December 1969. The inventory, with annotations, is reproduced at the beginning of the first reel. The documents include some relating to the Marquis du Ray's and the Nouvelle France projects; journal extracts, notes, letters, decrees of the S.C.
