On 17 April 2024, Solomon Islanders participated in a landmark democratic exercise — the country’s first joint national and provincial elections. Conducted across 50 constituencies and nine provinces, this historic vote showcased the commitment of citizens to democratic participation, despite formidable geographic, political and logistical challenges. In this context, researchers from the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) and Australian National University (ANU) conducted the most comprehensive, and first longitudinal, study of elections carried out in Solomon Islands.
