The Japan Institute is delighted to congratulate Shiro Armstrong on his promotion to Professor at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University, effective 1 January 2024. Within a university promotion to full professor is an acknowledgement of the breadth and depth of impact of a faculty member in contributing to education, research, and to service.
Professor Armstrong has impacted public policy in the Asia Pacific region – and especially Japan - over many years, and continues to build and deepen links with the region, and to mentor emerging scholars. Shiro also leads the Australia-Japan Research Centre and the Asian Bureau of Economic Research, and is Editor of the widely read East Asia Forum (https://www.eastasiaforum.org/), which is hosted at the Crawford School of Public Policy.
Congratulations Professor Armstrong!
