We have a number of projects that volunteers can get involved in.

Australasian Pollen and Spore Atlas (APSA)

Are you interested in natural history collections, conservation of collections, imaging of microscopic particles or developing online databases and catalogues?

There are a range of tasks that a volunteer can help out with such as

· assessing our extensive microscope slide and sample vial collection for conservation needs,

· applying conservation measures to microscope slides and sample vials,

· taking images of pollen and spores on one of our research microscopes,

· reworking the online database that forms the online catalogue to the collection. If you are interested in working with the atlas, please get in touch: ulrike.proske@anu.edu.au

Palaeoecological research

Are you interested in lab work or want to expand your skill set into sample processing for pollen analysis?

Our lab work involves a number of tasks such as

· sampling sediment cores,

· processing sediment samples with a range of chemicals and procedures to extract pollen and spores,

· preparing microscope slides for pollen and spore analysis. If you are interested in volunteering in our lab, please get in touch: ulrike.proske@anu.edu.au
